Position Description: Director of Youth Ministry
Requirements: A minimum high school diploma, some postsecondary education is desired. A Christian who is computer proficient with evidence of working effectively with youth.
The Director of the CUMBC Youth Ministry is responsible for planning and implementing educational and religious programs and activities for the children and youth of the church. Reporting directly to the Senior Pastor, the Youth Director works collaboratively with other church ministries and departments, such as the Christian Education Department, in developing programs designed to foster the spiritual growth of the young congregants.
This part-time position is aptly designed for a Christian, with a background in Baptist Doctrine and polity. The ideal candidate is dependable, compassionate and enjoys working with children, youth, parents, members, and officers of the congregation, as well as other church staff. The ideal candidate is a positive role model without a criminal record or history of child abuse.
Other special talents or desired abilities include: a heart for youth ministry, patience and a working understanding of the evident needs of youth.
Anticipated time commitment: The Youth Director is expected to commit 20 – 30 hours per week performing such duties as: scheduling and attending meetings; coordinating and participating in training and/or educational events; planning, attending and evaluating programs; providing counseling and spiritual direction to youth as needed; following up with youth who have visited the church (visits/letters, etc...), and coordinating the Children's Church and Wednesday Youth Bible Study.
Salary: The salary is commensurate with the candidate’s experiences and education.
Vacation: The Youth director will receive a one-week paid vacation after one year of service; two weeks paid vacation is provided after four years of service (all vacation time is coordinated in advance with the Pastor with a qualified designee identified to assume ongoing responsibilities.)
