Operation "Pack A Bus"

Sponsored by the Minister’s and Moderators
Department of GMBC of GA Inc.
Reverend Kenneth B. Martin, Convention President
Reverend Anthony Corbett, Coordinator
Reverend Dante Smith, Facilitator of Outreach Ministry

busEach year students are expected to purchase an ever-growing list of supplies to bring with them on the first day of school. Gone are the days when kids only needed to bring a notebook and a few pencils. Now, in addition to backpacks, earbuds, USB drives and a variety of pens, pencils, tape, crayons and other items, our children are expected to contribute cleaning supplies for the classroom as well. There are far too many families who struggle to provide for their own children, let alone provide towels, wipes, sanitizer and items for other students to use. Therefore, the Ministers and Moderator’s Department of the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia, Inc. has collaborated with the Bibb County School District, Macon, GA to help collect school supplies for area elementary and middle schools in need. “I am hopeful that our efforts will prove to be advantageous for as many families and students as possible as well as help lift the financial burden for local teachers who spend their own money on student and classroom supplies” says Reverend Anthony Corbett, Coordinator.

Ministers, Moderators, Associations and Churches are asked to drop off supplies during the 147th Annual Session November 13—16, 2017 at the Macon Centreplex 200 Coliseum Drive Macon, GA 31217. A School Bus will be parked in the Parking Lot on Monday – Wednesday from 9:00am to 5:00pm and Thursday from 9:00am to 12:00pm. By the end of the four-day event, the bus full of supplies will be driven to a center where the items are packaged by grade and distributed to the most needed elementary and middle schools within the district. Moderator Corbett is asking for volunteers to be on hand to help collect the supplies, bag, and place them on the bus..
