Congress of Christian Education

2015 Congress of Christian Education Greeting

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
-Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV84)

Greetings GMBC Congress and Youth & Young Adult Convention!

tillmanThis message is sent to you as encouragement to begin spreading the word about "spreading The Word" during the upcoming Session of the GMBC Congress of Christian Education. In accordance with our National Baptist Convention theme, "Solidarity with the Savior through Our Witness," the entire delegation of the GMBC Congress and Youth & Young Adult Convention (excluding the children) will be Witnesses for Christ throughout the Albany, Georgia area on Tuesday, July 14th and Wednesday, July 15th from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM.

Each delegate will be given a name badge with a special message. During this evangelistic period, we will turn our badges over to display the message printed, "Ask me where I'm going." Led by the Holy Spirit, individuals and groups will go throughout the community to various areas chosen by the delegates to interact with its residents. Some will go to parks and distribute water. Others will visit restaurants, malls and shopping centers, gas stations, hospitals, and community centers. When asked by others, "Where are you going?" our response will be, "Heaven! And what about you?" in order to begin a brief conversation about having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Each of us will be equipped with cards printed with the "Sinner's Prayer" to be used as a guide. This will allow individuals accepting Christ to pray, confessing with their mouths and believing in their hearts that Jesus died for their sins and rose from the grave.

Because the Congress is meeting in conjunction with the Youth & Young Adult Convention, all of our responses and experiences during the evangelistic effort will be captured via Twitter, allowing all of us to communicate to one another and the world what a great and awesome God we serve! Our young people will help us tweet about our experience while our SWAT teams work to capture all needed information for follow-up with those who accept Christ. I believe that God will move through this effort as we work to expand His Kingdom!

I look forward to seeing and sharing with you in Albany, Georgia July 13-17, 2015.

To God be the glory,

Thurmond N. Tillman
President, GMBC Congress
of Christian Education
