GREETINGS FROM THE CONGRESS PRESIDENT

flakesOn behalf of Anthony Q. Corbett, our beloved President, and Keith Mitchell, our wonderful Dean, we greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ, and thank you for participating in this year’s in-person Congress of Christian Education. Thank you to the 11th District Churches, Pastors and Laymen for hosting us. Dean Mitchell and his staff have prepared a great week of study. Our children, youth and young adults will be holding innovative programs in music, arts and study. The Oratorical Contest this year will be second to none. Additionally, there are a host of specialized topic seminars and presentations, including a special update regarding our Land of Promise initiative. The global pandemic continues, and what we have learned through it all is that our God is faithful.

We also want to thank 1st Vice President Mark Seals, Dr. Brenda Eason, Technology and this team, and Media and Communications for their invaluable assistance in getting us online for early registration and being available to help us to be excellent. As the teaching arm of the GMBC of Georgia, the Congress of Christian Education has the responsibility to provide our members with powerful, yet practical, methods, strategies and information that will equip us to be proficient in sharing the good news of the Gospel – good news that can lead to everlasting life. I thank God for diligence and dedication of the leaders of the Congress, in ensuring that we will have very meaningful experiences. I encourage each of us to take advantage of the classes and offerings, so that we can be a blessing to those whom we serve.

We mourn the great souls from our ranks who have now gone to join the great cloud of witnesses in Glory. We will continue their great work and, most of all, the great unending work of Christian education instruction. Again, thanks for being with us and we pray to see you in person real soon in Brunswick, Georgia, July 10-13, 2023. Remember, the reason we do what we do is for the love of God, through Jesus the Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Your brother in Christ,

J.H. Flakes, III

GREETINGS FROM THE DEAN

KEITH MITCHELL

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ and, on behalf of Rev. Dr. Anthony Q. Corbett Sr., GMBC of GA President; Rev. Dr. Johnny Flakes III, GMBC of GA Congress President; the Congress Faculty and Staff, Assistant Dean Dr. Albertine Marshall, Associate Deans Alvin Bunch and Cynthia Murrah and School Processor Brigitte Hill, and the entire team that makes up our faculty and staff, we greet you.

As we convene for our 61st Annual Congress of Christian Education, I am anticipating that delegates will have an opportunity to broaden their spiritual knowledge, as we offer once again a full Congress lineup. We have met and planned to offer learning options for adults, ministers, worship leaders, children, youth and young adults. As host of the Children, Youth and Young Adult Convention, we will feature our Oratorical Contest, as well as the Talent/Children and Youth Rally.

Meeting under the Congress theme “Making the World a Better Place: Engaging in the Work of Evangelism and Social Justice at Church and the Community” Matthew 28:19 and Matthew 5:16 NKJV, I would like to challenge each of us to do what Christ has commanded–to be a witness of Him being empowered by the Holy Ghost. Delegates will be provided opportunities to share the Good News as we hit the streets of Brunswick, GA. Students taking Evangelism classes will be guided in putting into practice what is being learned in the classrooms by partnering with our State Evangelism leadership team and taking it to the streets. Therefore, as we embrace the high calling of Jesus Christ to be a witness of Him and to make disciples, teaching them those things He has taught us, let us do so with love and a burning desire to see God’s will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.  It’s all about the Kingdom of God.

As we come together on July 10th – 13th, let us do so with the resolve that we come together to become different so we can make a difference in the lives of those we encounter. Let’s leave Brunswick, GA, fully committed to the cause of having a positive impact on the communities we serve. I pray every delegate’s knowledge of what it means to grow in your faith as a disciple of Christ is enhanced. If there is anything the Dean’s Office can do to enhance your learning experience while attending this year’s Congress, please do not hesitate to ask.

Yours in Christ,

Keith W. Mitchell, GMBC of GA Dean
